John Eldredge and brent Curtis:

The Sacred Romance
John Eldredge:
Wild at Heart
Waking the Dead,
I have just finished reading. It is very strong on the love of God. I particularly appreciated that Eldredge reminds us that God has made the believer's heart good (not perfect) and that we have every right to slough off the arrows of false guilt and shame that attack us from the outside and the inside.

Peter Taylor Forsyth:
The Soul of Prayer. E-text on Spirit of Prayer. This is a classic book about the relationship
between the individual and God, creation and other individuals. Unfortunately
it is a well hidden gem. It was first published in 1916 and is also on the Christian Classics
Library.

Steve Fry:
Safe In The Father's Arms, Sparrow Press, Nashville, Tennessee, 1994;
A God Who Heals the Heart, Deep Fryed Books, Brentwood, 1997; I Am: The Unveiling of God

to the art of Christian Spirituality. They are all great. The first was a classic in my view. You can still get a used copy here:
Transforming Power of Prayer: Deepening Your Friendship With God
In the U.K. it was published under the name, The Transforming
Friendship.

of the meaning and existence of this universe.

John Piper:
Future Grace. The Christian life rides on the hope for continued grace
from God.
Karl Stern:
The Flight from Woman. I ordered this book over the internet from a
used book store because of a reference in a book by Leanne Payne. It is a sort
of study in psychohistory as men and women alike have forgotten feminine
qualities, the feminine side of human culture, so to speak.
Paul Tillich:
The Courage to Be, New Haven and London: Yale University Press.
1952.
Paul Tournier:
Escape from Loneliness, Guilt and Grace, The Strong and the Weak, Creative Suffering. Walter Trobisch:
I Loved a Girl is a collection of letters, the correspondence between
a young African man and his missionary pastor. The subject matter is love, sex,
tradition, forgiveness and reconciliation. The pastor demonstrated in a
beautiful way the love of Christ as well as the requirements of the gospel.
This is a great example of the art of spiritual direction and counseling.
