Narrative

In 1920 Charles and Martha were living in San Mateo. In 1930 Martha had died and Charles was living in a lodging house in San Francisco, along with 27 others, male and female. I don't know where daughter June was but I know that Daisy would end up in Birmingham with her aunt Jennie and uncle Joe, my grandparents.
In 1940 Charles had remarried. He and Meta had two children by then - Staunton and Carol.
Meta was the one who sent a telegram telling my grandmother Jennie that her brother Charles had died. Jennie wrote on the back of the telegram her proposed reply that she was grieved beyond words that she would not be able to see her brother again. JWP 2012-09-08
